From Jim McCoy...

I remember D.D. well and played little league ball with him. He was a big guy with a big heart and, if you'll forgive the cliche, a "gentle giant". He was a great guy in high school and I always enjoyed being around him. I saw him at Tutle Orchard just a few weeks before his passing and was out of town when he died. Did not learn of it until earlier this year. He will truly be missed at our reunion!

I was shocked to hear of "DD's" passing. He lived down the street from me in Harrison Park. We use to play baseball at the park and he was very important part of the LC football team. I remember trying to block Dan at football practice once....I hit him as hard as I could, but he didn't budge an inch. I nearly knocked myself out! He was a "rock" in stature and sprit. I never saw him angry or say a bad thing about anyone. He was my neighbor, friend, and teammate and I miss him.

Gentle giant puts it perfectly.  I was a nobody, but DD and Paul B.  always had time for me.

This is heartbreaking. Randy's description of DD is a good one. We played football together from 7th grade on and while he was a great player (senior year he did the unheard of: he was 2nd on team in tackles from a down lineman position!) it was always his kindness, his awareness of people, and his sense of humour that I admired most.

My favorite moment in any of our class reunions was when DD and I did the "Bump" together on the dance floor at the 20th. I'm recalling his laugher now.

I think of DeeDee often really.  When we had our first dance at Belzer in the 9th grade, I was escorted by DeeDee.  He was such a nice guy.  Our circle of friends changed as we entered the high school but I have always remembered him fondly.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing.  I'm glad to have had my life touched by knowing him.  He will surely be missed by many.
