Kenny lived 3 houses down from me while we were growing up.  Our Dad's worked together and we spent a lot of times hanging out with each other.  It is a mellowing thought to remember Kenny and the tragic accident that claimed his life, but he is certainly not forgotten.  Ironically, I worked with his younger brother, Phil, while still on the police department.  Time moves on, but memories tend to hang around.

Memory... is the diary that we all carry about with us.  ~Oscar Wilde, "The Importance of Being Earnest"

 Till we meet again, Kenny.

Kenny was literally my first friend.  We lived next door to each other from the age of one.  In fact, one of my earliest childhood memories is climbing to the top of his swingset (it was a VERY small swingset) and then jumping off singing the Mighty Mouse theme song (you remember, "Here I come to save the day").

Kenny had a quick, dry wit but with his softspoken delivery you had to pay attention to get it.  For example, Mr. Richardson's science class in grade 7 ... everyone was huddled over their microscopes looking at something and someone spoke up and said the light on their microscope had gone out ... then someone else echoed the same.  Mr. Richardson asked us to put up our hands if our light had gone out and by this time everyone was raising their hands.  Funny enough though, as soon we put up our hands, the lights came back on ... Kenny's quiet quip ... Many hands make light work.

Ken was a talented writer but his tragic accident robbed us all of the opportunity to appreciate the work he would have produced.  We miss you, Kenny.
